See you at 7:30!
Tonight’s the night!
Hope to see you there! And bring friends because you’ll need help with whatever appetizer you order. Are you skeptical of this claim? Let’s test this theory!
December Drinking Skeptically
It’s the most wonderful time of the year for hearty Irish pub food!
Join us again at our new location, the awesome Claddagh Irish Pub in the South Side Works, Friday December 19th for drinks and socializing with our big happy extended Pittsburgh Secular Freethinkers/Humanist/Atheist/Agnostic/Skeptical family!
It is very important that I give the restaurant a heads-up [...]
Drinking Skeptically at Claddagh’s Irish Pub this Friday!
Drinking Skeptically in Pittsburgh has found itself a new home this month and next, as well as a new date during the month. We have switched to the third Friday’s for November and December to avoid any collision with holiday events. We also found a great space with Claddagh Irish Pub in the South [...]
Drink Skeptically, Donate Secularly!
Join us for Drinking Skeptically this month - same time, same place (see info below) - it’s scientifically proven to be a good time!
This month we’ll be collecting non-perishable food donations as well as cash donations to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. So be sure to go through your pantry and grab anything you [...]
Oh look - Forums!
You might’ve noticed the menu at the top of the page growing over the last week. I added an archive for tags that displays them in cloud form. (The larger the font, the more we’re written about that topic. I’m interested to see how this cloud will grow.) And today I finally added the forums. [...]
Pittsburgh’s Skept-plosion
A recap of my six-month journey into Pittsburgh’s secular community.
My first experience with Pittsburgh’s skeptic community was via the first-and-only meeting of the now-dissolved Pittsburgh Atheist Meetup. The Atheist Meetup was great. We talked about everything from Monty Python’s Life of Brian to our own personal conversion stories (which all seemed to start with either [...]
Drinking Skeptically - this Friday August 22nd!
I sure hope all of you can make it out to Drinking Skeptically this Friday, August 22 at 7:30pm at The Library on the South Side (we’ll be upstairs!). June and July’s gatherings were so much fun (be sure to check out the pictures in the gallery here) and August is shaping up to be [...]
Missed opportunity
Guys, I wish I’d seen that Jason Rosenhouse of EvolutionBlog was going to be in Pittsburgh for that embarrassing International Conference on Creationism that plagues us annually now. I would’ve emailed him to see if he wanted (and had time) to join us for a special guest edition of Drinking Skeptically.
Jason’s blog is evolution central, [...]
Another great turnout for Drinking Skeptically!
BillK and I estimate last night’s Drinking Skeptically turnout was in the upper twenties. We had folks who came from CFI Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Secular Freethinkers, SCS on Atheist Nexus, the Facebook groups and via an awesome plug from Skepchick.org! (How cool is that?!) Photos will be added soon.
We had a lot of new faces and [...]
